Edinburgh
This was our fringe day in Edinburgh, we headed off from our accomodation in Fife and made use of the amazing park and ride facility from Ferry toll First off we saw the exhibiytion entitled "Here Comes Everybody" it is an exhibition of work by kennardphillipps, the collaborative practice of London-based artists Peter Kennard (b.1949, London) and Cat Phillipps (b.1972, Edinburgh). It includes a major new installation consisting of an accumulation of photographic imagery, photomontage, digital prints, newspapers and found materials, exploring ideas around image consumption, production and surveillance.
Then we wandered though the crowds to The Scottish Parliament to see theThe World Press Photo exhibition is an international contest for photojournalists and features 130 moving and thought provoking images taken during the course of 2014.. Its been a while since an exhibition made me cry. I recommend everyone to see this ... very pwerful photography not for the squeamish. They are also showing an exhibition of portraits and photographs by photojournalist Michael Peto (1908-70) has been specially curated from The Peto Collection held by the University of Dundee, . Then off to the national Museum for the Victorian Senadsation which looked at the discovery and popular growth of Photography. I had budgeted an hour for tis but came out 2 hours later knowing i could have spent all day in this fascinating collection and exhibit. We also took in much of the fringe atmosphere then met my son for a meall. My son who is working over the summer In Edinburgh during his summer break from Uni. A great day and an inspring day of photography.
