Tony Burke's PhotoJournal

A grey day at the seaside

The last time we came down to see Sal's brother, Martin at Barton on Sea it was April and we weren't expecting good weather but it turned out to be a beautiful day.  This time it was August and we thought it should be good but it was awful weather.

Still, we had a lovely day. We travelled down with Paul and arrived at lunchtime. This afternoon we drove out to Hengistbury Head and got the land train down to the point where  you can look across to Mudeford Quay, which is what you can see in the top photo.

The other photo is a beach hut on Hengistbury Head which used to be the starter's hut for a yacht race. It has a special memory for us because some years ago, Sal's mum rented it and we had some happy beach days there when the children were young.

It was a nice today despite the awful weather. And we had a lovely meal this evening at the Boathouse in Christchurch.
