Blackcurranting
My gran jokingly asked me and my sister to take the stems off of all of the blackcurrants she picked to make jam. Of course we felt obliged to, even though she said it was a joke (I don't think it was). We sat for hours picking thorough them. Turns out, blackcurrants aren't red or purple inside! They actually look really weird - they're clear-ish with loads of seeds inside. They also taste incredibly sour. Cliché, but you do learn something new every day.
