Greylag Goose

Hey you said the Greylag Goose. I saw you here yesterday. You're the guy who was wondering whether the Lowestoft Travelodge was going to be any good. So how did it go.

It went well I replied. The meal at the next door Harvester was pretty good. The Travelodge itself was pretty good, mind you we'll not do breakfast in Asda again.

Mmmmm, said the Greylag Goose, I can see you are a man of high standards.

Mmmmm,
said I, we have our moments. I think you deserved to be blipped today for your ironical insight.

Anyway, here we are at Minsmere again today finishing off the areas we didn't cover yesterday. Bittern Hide & Island Mere Hide. The weather had turned colder and duller, but at least it was dry. Good views of Marsh Harriers and a couple of Bittern flights from the Island Mere Hide, but not much else of note. After a warm-up coffee decided to give the Glossy Ibises another go, but no luck. A slow wander back via the South and West hides with RCB capturing a Sedge Warbler, our 202nd bird of the year just as we were finally leaving the West Hide.

The drive home was enlivened by the fact that exceedingly large amounts of rain had fallen in our absence and one of the back roads we use was for 200m quite literally a river. Mrs L has this phobia of driving through large puddles; she seemed visibly shaken after her experience with the river. Poor lass, I'll buy her a Chinese takeaway tonight, that'll cheer her up. You see Greylag Goose, we do have our moments.
