Half Grass, Half Weed

This lawn was planed about eight weeks ago and initially the weed seeds that were in the soil grew far faster than the grass seed that I had sown.  When the weeds got to about a foot high, I mowed the (lawn) and the grass became just visible in amongst the weed.  Today’s mowing, produced a better result, as the grass is now growing faster than the weeds are and should eventually replace them.  The current situation is that about 50% of the green is weed and 50% is grass, by the end of this summer, I expect it to be mostly grass.  Despite this, I found the appearance, as shown in this picture, to be quite gratifying.
