Night train
Back in St Petersburg this morning, arrived on an overnight train. Clearly Russia is modernising as there was air conditioning! This is a new phenomenon it seems. They show the temperature at the end of the carriage and it was 27 degrees on the way there so the way back was a huge improvement. As a result I actually slept. The trains go very slowly and often stop for a few hours at a time if they are running ahead of schedule. This train was Moscow to Murmansk in 35 hours. They sell all the things you would expect such as chess and there is a man who chants "chipsi, fishtashki, areshki!" (Crips, pistachios, nuts) who walks through. In a very old fashioned Russian way they sell tea and beer in the morning to wake you up. Normally the conductor is pure evil but actually this one was nice so was all round not too bad. Back to work for me this evening so I am using this for the Monomonday "work" challenge.
