Barrell roll

White fronted tern showing a new flying technique.


White fronted terns do this weird thing where they roll over and over and shake themselves. Never managed to catch it before, so it's not the sharpest photo, but bird behaviour is always interesting (well to me anyway!)

Added an extra too - for a long time there have been no terns around, but today there were lots  - perched on the jetty, on the rocks and over and in the water. They are very random, probably I'll go back tomorrow and there will be none again. But still, great to see them.
