Olympic celebrations.
The Olympic torch came to Newcastle this evening, so we took ourselves off to see it.
It was carried by various people who had helped in the community, or had overcome great difficulties in their lives.
The quayside was packed with people, waiting for it to be carried over the Tyne Bridge, and then handed to TV adventurer Bear Grylls, who was waiting at the very top of the bridge. He then slid down a zip wire over the river, with the flame and onto the parade ground of HMS Calliope in Gateshead.
There was a great atmosphere, and the evening was rounded off with local bands playing on the quayside, and the flame lighting the couldron where it stays over night.
