The train now departing ...

... is the 'mixed'.

In it's heyday the Talyllyn served the local community in many different ways.  Slate from the quarries, farmers wives to market, produce delivered along the line to the various hamlets and isolated farms.  Today that service was recreated with a mixed train comprising the original rolling stock plus goods wagons and empty slate wagons which would have been returning to the quarries.  TR No 2, Dolgoch whistles on departure.
