May peace prevail on earth

Norwich Quakers hosted a one-hour vigil and peace picnic at the Peace Pillar in Chapelfield Gardens in remembrance of the 70th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  A letter had been received from the mayor of Hiroshima and in between two periods of silent reflection participants, stood in a circle around the peace pillar, were each invited to read a sentence from the letter which was passed from hand to hand.

It was incredibly powerful and moving.
