Caring Home
My 91 year old Dad has lived in this residential home for the past year or so. It is a lovely friendly and caring place, a few miles from us.
We had a real scare last night as he was suffereing from a high fever and was difficult to rouse or communicate with. It was truly awful and we all feared the worst. The doctor diagnosed an infection and said he could either be treated in hospital, or if we liked we could try treating him at home, but it would be slower. After much consideration I thought that being admitted to hospital could be quite traumatic for him, so thought we should try at home, with the back up of hospital if things didn't improve overnight. I agonised all night about whther I'd made the right decision. However after some paracetamol to bring down his temparature and some hefty anti-biotics, he seemed more like his old self this morning and was wondering what all the fuss had been about!
Thank goodness for his recovery and thank goodness he is in such a caring place. I can't praise them enough.
PS Thanks to everyone for comments on yesterdays blip - didn't get around to comemting much yesterday I'm afraid
