Sagrada Familia

Day 2 of the Barcelona weekend and a day of Gaudí architectural delights. First we returned to La Pedrera, an amazing building of his that we visited last time we were here five years ago, and just had to come back to. Fantastic roof.

Then on to the basilica de la Sagrada Familia, the unbelievably ornate and complex structure that was only about a quarter finished when Gaudí died in 1926 and apparently might just about be finished by 2026. It's impressive enough from the outside but we weren't ready for the interior to be so breathtaking. A real surprise, and genuinely awesome, in the proper meaning of the word. I can't believe it's taken us this long to see the place, but I'm very glad we did :-)
