A Hint of Blue

Just back from a blipmeet on Bere Island (Himself, Bat and wwoofer Angela and Michael in attendance). We caught the ferry and had a brilliant time to start with - ruins, walks, splendid isolation - but shortly after our picnic lunch on a windswept beach, the heavens opened. Nowhere to run so we gamely headed back to the teeny village, soaked. Unbeknownest to us, it was also the last day of the Bere island festival and it was continuing, stoically, in the torrential rain and mist. Teenagers bashed each others with sodden pillow on the greasy pole, men tried to ride bikes on a plank over the sea and little children raced each other in kayaks. We had a steamy cup of tea in the only cafe along with the rest of Bere island and then the electricity went off!

Back home and there's a wedding going on in the Tin Pub - the weather has really closed in and it's like January, but guests in their flimsies and finery are putting on brave faces.

And it seems to be my 5th blip birthday!  I managed to capture a few of my favourite things today - windows, BVM, dereliction and reflections so I've added a few extras. Phew - what a journey, who knew when I gaily thought this might be a good idea where it might lead. Eyes wide open,  camera permanently attached to my person, a zest for trespass exploration and a renewed appreciation of what's around me. And all the friendships - more important maybe than the pix. Meaningful whether they be virtual or real, and how nice to have met some of you in the flesh too. Birth, death and everything in between, a brave and genuine expression of what it means to be human.

Things change though and I intend to ease off a little  now- maybe just blip now and again, maybe blip everyday and have a massive catch up once a week, maybe just stop (probably not the last, too traumatic!) Anyway, thank you for sharing the journey and I feel it will continue for a while yet in one way or another.
