St Patrick Square
And so whilst the rest of the world watch the Harmonium thing, we both had an evening off. After a day at work (her) and a day chasing exuberant boys around the Meadows in the sunshine and taking them to shows, there was a proper festival atmosphere in town for us to enjoy.
Taking my lottery winnings, we headed off to Kismot for dinner.
Walking through town to savour the Friday evening / summer / happy buzz about the place, we wove our way through streets broad and narrow and as we did, stumbled across these two gems.
Chronologically, we found the extra first. Cigs / Mate Youts done by a 10 year old wannabe; Zozzy Socks is the new kid on the block; what is lacking in technical prowess is more than made up for by chutzpah. Let's dis the biggest names in Edinburgh tagging and go for global domination. Once Cigs runs out, I may have to switch allegiance to the rising star.
30 yards further on is the real McCoy. Mauve (again?) on a blue door; the keen students amongst you will notice that if we were walking from hers to Kismot, she'd be walking the other way. I managed to persuade her to turn and walk back past it for the shot - an act that was to cost me a taxi fare on the way home. Apparently all those extra steps I asked her to do rendered her incapable of walking home.
Hell, it's all on expenses, the shareholders can whinge all they like.
