Monday
Today was a nice, quiet day. I went into work, did a few bits and pieces, and had a couple of meetings, and left at five to go and pick up Dan and Abi, who'd been out for the day with their mum, going on one of the boats on Windermere.
I'd planned to watch 'Insurgent' with Dan, later, which we did, but Abi's not interested in those kind of dystopian, sci-fi films (see also 'The Maze Runner' and 'The Hunger Games'), so instead we watched a couple of episodes of a series we've been watching together on Netflix called 'The Next Step'. Lord, it is the most stressful television I've ever endured.
She's 11 and I guess it's aimed and young people of her age but I find myself somewhere between cringing and an emotional dread all the way through, while she absolutely loves it. During the scenes - which telegraph everything from imminent misunderstandings to plain meanness and the unfolding thereof - the characters talk to camera about how they're feeling.
Anyway, she loves it and it's all made completely better by the fact that we cuddle up on the sofa, with the laptop on my knee, to watch it together, It would have been daft to take a photo of the laptop that we watched it on, though, so here's one of the garden, after the Minx's attentions, last week.
