I knew...
That snooker table would come in handy!!!
All the overspill from our move had been dumped in the games room....this is just a fraction of it! I am too embarrassed to blip the room in its entirety. In fact it took me till late this evening to actually pluck up the courage to look in the room and see first- hand the unpacking and sorting task that lies ahead! And we still have the loft to empty in the old place!
I think the last few days have caught up with us as the three of us were shattered today. Up early as the joiners, electricians, plumbers and painters were all here just after 8am. Stepdad John visited in the afternoon and that was a welcome excuse to sit down and not do much for the rest of the day.
He was delighted to see us finally in the house and brought us a housewarming gift of a pair of beautiful wine glasses with Swarovski crystals in the goblets. John and I were both a little subdued as our thoughts kept wandering to how much my mum would have loved this place. I did smile to myself when opening John's gift as if my mum had been here, instead of opening lovely wine glasses, it would have been some hideous ornament that she would have insisted was perfect for the most prominent place in the whole house! Her taste and mine very rarely coincided!
The builders carried on round about us till just after 4pm peace rained at last. Made dinner then John headed home. I am very conscious that what was a 15 minute journey home for him is now almost 45 minutes but it doesn't seem to bother him.
Fell into bed exhausted!
