I was interviewed today by Alan Robertson from Holyrood Magazine. He was going to be my blip - indeed may appear in tweet. But tonight's opening event of the Edinburgh Festivals takes precedence.

Our son and I headed to Festival Square to see and hear the new work by John Adams. The event was impressive and the use of laser technology amazing. As the Edinburgh Festival Choir took voice faces slowly appeared among the digital display on the building. To begin with they looked as if they were using their faces through a thin film of rubber. Then they took shape, synching with the song.

There will be many photos of the multi-coloured rendition of the Usher Hall. So I thought this rather striking one would do instead. The visuals kept moving making focus difficult.

At one point the main building was swirling dragging the dome to built up a spinning speed. All rather hypnotic at points with the music and song.

The large crowd was generally silent appreciating the event although the number of selfies and cameras being raised made photos a bit haphazard.

The ending was clever and drew applause as the digital flight over Edinburgh slowly zoomed in on the Usher Hall itself with the digital image finally being superimposed exactly on the real building. With the fireworks earlier - a most enjoyable evening.

And it was dry and mild!!!!
