Finger Rock Fire

Upon our return to Tucson we observed a large column of smoke. As we neared home we could see the glow in the sky of the Finger Rock Fire in the Santa Catalina Mountains. This was the view from our home at about 8:30 pm.

The fire was started by lightning about a week ago. It was in an unpopulated area in the National Forest so no efferts were made for control. Eventually the fire would burn itself out and the forest would become healthiier.

On the journey home we stopped by at the Very Large Array of radio telescopes near Socorro NM. Photos of the VLA are posted with yesterday's EXTRAS.
