Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Not our garden!

A very busy day doing last minute chores including lawns, washing & ironing. I even ironed the top 12 inches of the clean sheets for their bed tomorrow! The place is spruced up and twinkling. One can only hope that the house swappers have the same level of spic and span-ness... We have had a variety over the years.

Archie was very 'thoughful' this morning. Did not play with his toys as soon as he got up. Did not run around the house being silly. Did not run to door when I went to take him out. He must know we're planning to leave him.

I sent a photo of him looking miserable to J, Bailey's mum, and she immediately said she'd pop round and take him up the Hill for one last romp with Bailey! Yay! He went crazy when she arrived. Thanks, J!

Went for my blood test, and had to go back this afternoon for the results. All good. The TV technician failed to arrive, and when I rang John Lewis to enquire it seems they had our old address! Incredible. The amount of stuff we've had delivered to this address from them.

Archie and I walked down to visit Uncle A and catch up with his news, of which there was plenty. And I acquired his small porcelain figure of a Prestonpans fishwife that I've admired for many years. My mum was in the Newhaven Fishwives Choir.

An evening of packing lies ahead. Or maybe an evening of Mad Men and pack in the morning...

Archie has returned to his normal silly self. He has just been spinning round and round, chasing his tail.

Off on the train tomorrow to sunnier climes!
