Mandarin Duck (female)

An introduced species from Asia, this absolutely stunning Duck with her family were on the local pond & although quite shy were keen to see if I had anything for them to eat. Sadly I didn't and actually it is not encouraged anyway. Being inquisitive gave me the opportunity to study them. I think this is the prettiest Duck I have every seen! The male is more colourful and when adult is a gorgeous sight with his elaborate almost geometric markings. I love her friendly eyes and eyeline. This sighting was very special!
