NEVER SEEN THE LIKE...

Had to remove the fingerboard from this ancient German arch top jazz guitar to see why the neck had exploded?

The builders had added two aluminium truss bars - back then aluminium  was very trendy.

Comes a time when the fingerboard fell out with the neck & they parted company...Enter an enthusiastic hillbilly with a bottle of PVA - Poly Vinyl Acetate = white wood glue - he slathers it in but seeing the colossal residue, he doesn't have the necessary clamps.

It would seem that the PVA glue had a catastrophically oxidising effect on the  aluminium...

Lovely surprise today - became the owner of a very special sheep - don't know what to call him yet - thought of "Jack" for my uncle from Mousland in Orkney who won so many Blue Rosettes for his Cheviots that he became a judge... I rather like "Mildred", hey?
