Watch for...

....that roundabout sticking up.

Earlier, we'd assembled in Chirnside for the pre-briefing. Highlight was Jamie for Toronto getting stuck in the Gents....Jamie is a lassie which begs the question, what was she doing in the gents?

Thence to the bus to be dropped-off along the Olympic Relay route from Chirnside down to Berwick. I stood nervously awaiting the flame kiss from Jamie. Some wee wifies and a few young lassies popped up for Torch association shots.

The flame arrived, and we were off. The crowd called my name and I scanned back and forth, trying to wave to everyone (not to self; don't try to wave to everyone, you look like a waving loony), and then as I neared Golden Square, I fell up the mini-roundabout hump which lept from the tarmac at me. Just about composed, I looked up to see a multitude of family members and work mates with banners of adulation. I struggled to read them before being ushered on by the Metropolitan Police finest; lump in the throat time. Apparently my staggering featured on the half time feature on BBC; fame.

Some bus travel and faffing later, Weez, Stig and Jenna returned me to the The Barrels Ale House for many fine beers and much frivolity. Later, we jauntily made our way up the main street to catch the second but last train home to Embra.

Thank you, you know who you are.
