Mogulones geographicus
This really is a candidate for Tiny Tuesday being only a few millimetres in length. Mogulones geographicus is a very scarce weevil, associated with Viper's Bugloss, which predominantly grows on sandy soils. The weevil is perhaps most frequent in the Brecks of Norfolk and Suffolk, around Dungeness and on the Surrey heaths, but this one was found at Whitemoor, where the railway substrates and climate have encouraged development of a flora and fauna that has much in common with Breckland. It gets its name form the distinctive pattern of white lines on its elytra, which were thought to resemble boundaries on a map.
Thanks to osuzanna for hosting Tiny Tuesday :)
