Diary of an Edinburgher

Pals

Bailey came to visit this morning - Archie was looking out of the window for ages beforehand. I took them up the Hill. What fun we had. In the wind. We met a huge Great Dane, who came trotting up to us like a dressage pony.

Bailey rarely goes up to a new dog, but Archie is straight in. Not straight in, actually, he will always lie down and suss them out as they get nearer. Maybe that's why he's been snapped at twice (on the lead) recently - he didn't have time to suss out they were nasty pieces of work unfriendly doggies and give them a wide berth.

Archie and Bailey played when they got home. Every now and again, they would both stop and just stand, and Archie would put his chin on her back and they would just stand like that for ages deep in thought. I've been wanting to get a shot of this for ages, but they're never in the right position. Anyway, as soon as they see/hear the camera, they turn and look at it. Little posers. However, today I got lucky!

I have just spent a fraught hour or so this afternoon sorting out my 'wardrobe' for the adventure on Friday. I'm happy to go in my normal day-to-day wear - très casual, verging on the très scruffy - in which I cut the hedge, mow the lawn, take the dog for a walk, go out for lunch and generally be a retired person. (Not that I made much of an effort in my working life). But I have a couple of special assignations planned, and my hedge cutting attire just will not do. But no worries, all sorted, to the eventual satisfaction of JR, who does not want to be seen with a scruffy old tramp, though those exact words were not used, just inferred...

The suitcases are out. Archie has already taken some things out of them, even though they're in the bedroom, which is supposed to to be out of bounds for him.

He knows something's up!
