My friend Pete Jordan was the guest speaker at University of Amsterdam, invited to address the inaugural meeting of a summer course on urban transportation. His book In The City Of Bikes has been a huge success in both English and Dutch, and a surprise as well. Amsterdam is very famous for its bikes, but it took an American transplant to make the first exhaustive study of the city's relationship with them, and its history from the cyclist's perspective.
It was great to see Pete telling jokes and being so relaxed in a public appearance. I knew him when he shunned the Media as the legendary zine writer "Dishwasher Pete."
