Cooper's Hawks
In the spring, I often heard the Cooper's Hawks calling, "Kack-kack-kack!" I wonder if that was a mating call, because now I only hear them vocalizing what I'd describe as a scream. In this image, the hawk on the left is a juvenile, and the one on the right is an adult. The adult's back is a dark gray-brown, while the juvenile's is lighter rust-brown. It's hard to differentiate in this photo.
Yellow-crowned Night-Heron update: Early this morning, I saw one fledgling on the nest. I have not seen him since. I believe they've all left, following their parents to the creek where they'll learn to catch crabs for themselves. I'll miss them.
