Zoo time

Yes, bit of a packed Blip today, but it's so difficult to choose between the lovely animals at Five Sisters Zoo, Polbeth, West Lothian. I know zoos aren't something everyone is a fan of, but the creatures here are well cared for and have plenty of space, and are usually here because they're either rescued animals, or being conserved.

The three bears, for example, were saved from a terrible existence in a Belgian travelling circus, where they were made to perform while living in dangerous conditions. After 20 years they were badly traumatised, but now they have space and company and stimulation, and while still prone to stereotypical behaviour, are getting better by the day. They will end their days here, loved.
