Chinese Students
Today EK Rotary's annual charity car rally departed from New Lanark. The weather was very kind to us with beautiful sunshine for most of the day through rural country roads so small towns and villages such as Peebles, Selkirk, Broughton and Ancrum before stopping for high tea and an overnight stay at Marshall Meadows Country House Hotel in the north of England. By the time we got there I had no idea where exactly we were.
Before we set off a very large group of Chinese students arrived at the Robert Owen Centre in New Lanark and I had a little chat with some of them. They were 15 - 16 years old, from different parts of China and were in Glasgow for six weeks, learning to speak English. They were enjoying their stay here and when I apologised for the cold, wet weather they explained that they were happy with the weather as at home it was very hot and very dry and they were enjoying the change.
