we um plough the fields and err, scatter?

I have no idea what this tractor is doing - you can take the girl out of the city, but you can't take etc. Surely not watering so maybe planting or spraying fertiliser? Some of the farming practices scare me such as killing all the potato foliage to make the harvesting easier - some of that stuff must make its way into the potato, mustn't it?
I took this on the way to work and sure enough by the time I got home the rain was lashing down again.
