Nettie and Doug

I can give you two really good reasons why CCN and I love visiting Bundaberg on a regular basis - Nettie and Doug.  They're CCN's wonderful parents who have been courting each other for over 75 years.  Nettie is 93 and Doug is snapping at her heels, he's 92.

This is certainly a marriage made in heaven.  They met during the second world war and married on the 1st of February 1946.  As you can see from this very happy image they only have eyes for each other.  We have a wonderful time when we're with them.  A lot of chatting to and fro and a lot of reminiscing.  Great stories about their life in Scotland and also their time in Australia, since the 1950's when they came out to start a new life in a new country.  We also benefit greatly from their wisdom and just love the fact that they are still so up to date with world affairs.  You can talk to them on any subject and you'll get a very wise and considered answer.

I was also blessed with wonderful parents and my darling Mum and Dad were married 67 years before Dad Passed away in 2011, Mum passed away 18 months later and believe me I still miss them every day.  How lucky are we to have both had such loving parents.

PS - Should have mentioned - our days in Bundy with Nettie and Doug are dotted with regular cups of tea and shortbread biscuits :-))
