Pétanque

By the end of the day a total of 47kg of home-grown beef tomatoes had been transformed into 21.4litres of home-made pasta sauce. Not all in the one day I should add, this has taken six separate sessions, and the harvest is not over yet. Spouseman grows, waters, tends and harvests the tomatoes and I freeze, peel, boil, pulp and jar them. I discovered that freezing them first makes them a million times easier to peel and it also halves their weight with water-loss, therefore using far less energy to evaporate it all off. Also, straight out of the freezer one could play pétanque if one so wished.
