No Animals Were Injured During the Making of this

Diving in Tiran today made me think about photography and it's effect on the subject and its environment. Underwater photography is so accessible that divers without a camera seem to be in the minority. Unfortunately the desire to take a picture is often at the expense of the subject. So many times this week I've seen divers holding onto coral (one touch and it dies), colliding with the reef and crowding the wildlife. One poor Giant Turtle was surrounded by 15 divers half of whom rushed in for a photo so that they could prove they'd seen one.

Underwater photography demands the highest level of diving control. If you haven't got it don't worry, touch nothing, leave nothing and watch the beauty unfold.

Today's blip is an enforced still life (due to all of the above) of a wonderful Rough Leather Coral feeding.
