Spoilt for choice. Again.
"The Powers" have sent us the usual bit of Bumf to update Electoral Rolls.
How many in the house? What age, gender, Nationality etc. Whilst filling it in I saw this gem and was prompted to wonder ... Exactly WHO do the expect to put a cross in the square entitled "The property is empty"?
Additional comic one - While traversing Sainsbury's Carp Ark I spotted the "Extra photo"
You'll, no doubt, have experienced the old one ...
"If Olive oil is from Olives, where does Baby Oil come from?"
Well. Up to now I'm used to knowing there'll at least be Taties & Meat in a Meat and Tatie Pie and Chicken in a Chicken Pie, etc. Not long ago, historically squeaking, "The Powers" decreed that it must either be called a "Potato and Meat Pie" OR contain More meat than Tatie. Demanding that the major "Greediment" was 1st on the list.
O.K. Never having HEARD of a "Butter Pie" I was Gob-smacked and forced to look it up. HOW do they get away with it?
"Butter pie is known to be created for workers from Lancashire's Catholic community, to consume on days (mainly Friday) when meat could not be eaten." AH BUT Is it filled with Butter? Is it heckaslike.
"A butter pie is a traditional savoury pie consisting mainly of onions and potatoes."
To, further confuse myself I looked for a recipe.
"For the filling.
3 Large potatoes – a King Edward/Maris Piper type
1 Large onion
50g/2oz Butter, plus 100g/4oz for softening the onions"
NOT MUCH butter in there, is there?
