Funny little thing....

I got my beloved car back today, and to celebrate went for a quick trip to Iping common.
This rather odd looking hump backed, wide eyed fly is Sicus ferrugineus.
Conopid flies are endoparasites of bumblebees, and the female grabs a suitable host and skilfully injects a single egg. The developing larva then eats all the non- essential organs prior to pupation. 
I think this is why they have such a strange shape, with the bent under abdomen, but despite such nasty habits I still think they are rather sweet.
