Tape - Bute Park
We decided to go a launch night tonight down in Bute Park.
Now I must confess I am not the most "arty" person .. I take very few "arty" photos, so it takes something special for me to go something "arty".
For the next month in Bute Park in Cardiff there is a wonderful art installation that has been put there in conjunction with RSPB Cymru and Migrations (amongst others).
It is called Tape, and it is the brain child of a Croatian art collective Numen/ For Use. This is the first time their work has been displayed in the UK. They have previously installed their very organic art forms in Paris, Tokyo, Melbourne and Stockholm.
It is a fully interactive piece in which you can climb around within the infrastructure. The whole thing is made from interwoven sticky tape, and encompasses several of the surrounding trees. Neither me nor Dawn had a go inside, but we won't rule out a clamber around sometime in August if we are in Cardiff.
As with all art is is what you see. It of course resembles a spider web to most, but just the sheer organic nature of it leaves it open to your own interpretation .. my sci fi brain thought it reminded me of the Alien hive from the films.
We had a wonderful hour chatting to people before heading back into town for a bite to eat.
I have stuck some more photos in the extras!
It's worth dropping by if you near Roath Park in August!
