Golden Dew, Manuherika Stockyards

Day two of my Central Otago weekend away, and today me and the group went skipping through the mud of the Hawkdun range backblocks in our four-wheel drives.

After a quick trip down to the Blue Lake at St Bathans, we headed up Hawkdun Runs Road, looping back past Homestead Camp, over the Manuherika River, down to Falls Dam and then on back to the main road via Home Hills Road.

Just before we crossed the river, I took this shot as we descended down from Homestead Hut, where we'd stopped for a warm cuppa. In the extra photos you'll see the cattle and sheep skulls on the wall of the hut, as well as a view towards the Hawkduns in a brief break in the weather.
