Alexandra Redoubt

Today I went to Pirongia (which used to be called Alexandra) and visited the historic site where the English had an armed constabulary during the Maori Land Wars of the 1800's. This redoubt held three wooden buildings only. It was situated on a small hill with a view of the river. A fascinating part of New Zealand history.
