Blue day...and night
This male Chalkhill Blue turned up on our neighbour's slope, adjacent to the nature reserve, today. No females to be seen yet, but a couple were there last year. Will they find the Horseshoe Vetch plants I've managed to establish in the butterfly scrapes on the reserve Extension? I will be planting more this winter, so within a few years we might be able to tick them for the reserve.
I just realised it is also a Blue Moon tonight...so rushed out to get a shot (see extra photo). It's not that amazing - just the second full moon this month - but it won't happen again until 2018. Sadly, it was not in the slightest 'blue' so I've tinted it a little for your delectation.
