Leaving?
Taken from the balcony of Lucy's cafe and bar where Diana and I wiled away a couple of hours with a cold drink or two and a baby. Yes we were babysitting whilst Luke and Cary went shopping. You see a number of people wearing traditional hats, usually the touts peddling tours as they are out in the sun all day long.
One thing that struck me walking back to the hotel this morning was the difference in size between today's generation and the older generation. Not their parents, but their grandparents. These older folk who you will see squatting at the side of the road selling their wares are really tiny. Today's generation are much closer to western children/young adults. It's all down to diet. Not sure its necessarily something to celebrate as I imagine obesity is the next step.
Hired 3 wheeler scooters yesterday and took on the rush hour traffic in Yangshuo. Overall a terrific experience, but when I crossed a major junction as the lights were changing and got no surge of speed when I opened up the throttle, I did get a little worried. Not the sort of thing you want to be doing with a delicate stomach. Talking of my delicate stomach, I took just one immodium at Diana's insistence. Well I'd just as well have stuck a cork up my bum. Nearly 48 hours later and I've still not been. Can't win can I.
Traveled back to Guilin in a private hire car today. Air con was on and set to 26 degrees. I pointed out that at home, we called that a heater, not air con.
