The Olympic Circus
I am not particularly interested in the Olympics to be honest, but curiosity and the opportunity to take some pictures got the better of me and so today I headed for Forfar to watch the Olympic torch pass through the town. Although it was to end up in Dundee at the end of the day I reckoned I would get a better view there. I didn't relish the thought of battling to get a view with the other 29, 999 spectators who were expected.
What can I say about what I saw? Well I was impressed first of all with the setup. Given the scale of the task, I am sure that the circus will have taken some amount of organising. I spoke to an ex colleague who had been speaking to some of the out runners and police escorts from the Metropolitan Police. By the sounds of it they have landed a plum job and it is no wonder they were smiling from ear to ear! I don't blame them. It was also significant however that commercialism has a huge part to play in the proceeding. Sponsers were running up and down the line of spectators handing out flags and bottles of Coke to waiting hordes. Never the less it was a spectacle and one that I am unlikely to witness again.
I had plenty of other pictures to post but I liked the blue colour of this one. How deep is that???
