Sheldon Day

Sheldon Day involves the whole village.  We took Sheila up to supervise the bran tub, and entered Kelsa for a class in the dog show.  Sheila had more success.  The climax of the day is the Great Sheldon Ball Race.  A tractor carts hundreds of numbered balls off to the top of the village, and they're released down the village street, pursued by their backers.
There's a strange story about the ash tree in the middle of the village.  In 1610, a duck flew into the tree and disappeared.  Three hundred years later the tree was cut down, and there, in its centre, was the impression of the late duck.  They have long memories in Derbyshire!
Didn't manage to get a picture of the Valais Blacknose, exhibited in all his glory, but I defy anyone who sees a picture of a lamb not to be prepared to sell all they have to get one.
