Mum's grocery bill 1954

I'm so glad that Mum kept interesting things even though it makes the sorting out a long process.

I found this grocery bill from 15th July 1954. Rationing (brought in for the war) for meat and all foods had finished on 4th July that year so it must have been a great relief to be able to buy as much as they needed.
Some of the writing's a bit difficult to decipher but the two items on each line are added up and put in the right hand column.

Mum used to work in the office at the shop (which belonged to her uncle) from leaving school until she got married, then started again when my brother and I were teenagers. She wouldn't have been working there when this bill was received.

I think that the two items in pencil must have been for my grandparents. Woods must have stood for Woodbines which Grandad smoked even though he suffered with lung damage from being a miner.
