Caterpillar I.D. please?
About a dozen of the powdery caterpillar were chomping on leaves of the native dogwood bush.
I collected them along with leaves and put them in a gallon plastic jar.
this is a picture of them in the rolled up "panic" pose after being captured.
I thought I would raise them to see what comes out. If anyone has an idea about the name of the butterfly or (more likely) moth these little one inch creatures, please let me know.
Or if it is unethical to have taken them all and put them in the jar, you can give your opinion too. I can put a few back out there to eat the dogwood.
I may do that too.
Rain arriving in 40 minutes. I love how "accurate" the weather predictors are!!
