Saarinen MIT Chapel
It rained for most of the day today and I was reluctant to photograph outdoors so I stopped by the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Chapel. A non-denominational church built by the celebrated Finnish American architect Eero Saarinen in 1955, it's a famous example of mid-century modern architecture. The altar is a simple marble structure under a circular light adorned by hanging metal bars that shimmer in the light, evoking an atmosphere of quiet solitude and reflection.
