Ben Lawers

Everyone apart from me was nursing a cold with coughs that made me think I was sharing the house with three bears. So our planned hike up Ben Lawers turned into a wander up to the top of the nature reserve instead.

It's a beautiful fenced off section of the hillside. The result of keeping the sheep and deer out is the regeneration of native woodland and a carpet of alpine wildflowers. Worth a visit and great for a short walk into the hills without being too strenuous for the invalids.
