One-eyed Jack

In his time and on his day
He had been feted and hated
And loved
He had been a father
And he had been further
- he had been to Hell
And he had come back

In his time and on his day
(And, in his day, he had his own day)
He had been dead and he had been alive
And he didn't know which was better
And he didn't know which was worse

And now, in our time
In our day
He is old, a one-eyed man
Who talks to ravens
And waits for the end and Winter

And the wolf is at the door
