The hoverflies are commonplace in the UK, many species can be seen hovering around open flowers, nectoring or feeding on pollen.

Also caught in our greenhouses and conservatories, where they get in and can't find a way out.

Many, like this one display 'bee-mimicry' and it appears they are hoped to step into the niches left open by the reduction in bee numbers in our fields, gardens and orchards .

I would be a shame then, if they too were to be poisoned by the neonicotinoids which the British governments have rubber stamped for us in our fields in direct opposition given by their scientific advisers?
