On the "Benidorm" Trail

Son James (an avid Benidorm fan - the program and the place) persuaded us to spend an hour or two in Benidorm searching for the various hang-outs of the Benidorm cast and here they are...  The main photo is of the Hotel Pelicanos (not the Solana) which has the honour of hosting the pool plus swim to bar of the series (top right photo).  I would have taken more shots but the place was packed and I think they get fed up of all the Benidorm groupies turning up.  Very nice hotel though. Then on to Neptunes Bar which is easy to find because its shaped just like a big pirate galleon (and just across the road from the Hotel Pelicanos). Also note the mobility scooter ban in Neptunes Bar.  During the hour we were there we counted around 40 mobility scooters scooting around and I am not being disrespectful but some of them were being driven by young kids and not just overweight men off to the next bar!  The mobility scooter now seems to be the done thing in Benidorm so you can be infinitely mobile as you are scooting from one happy hour (1 pint of beer 0.75 cents!) to the next - until you fall off that is.  Chrissy Rock, one of the show's big celebrities is appearing at Neptunes Bar in August - that should be a howl...And finally the place itself - as we were driving out of Benidorm we were looking out for a pink building which is now used as the reception area for the show's hotel - The Solana.

For anyone who has followed the series a trip along the "Benidorm" trail is a must - for anyone who has not seen the series yet count yourself lucky (only joking it is a great laugh and brings a certain respectability to the place itself :) )
