Penicuik House

LH was working at Penicuik House again today. Sad story. The building caught fire in 1899 in the attic. Fire fighting equipment at the time was so poor that they couldn't put out the fire as there wasn't enough pressure to reach the fire. The house burned down over the course of a number of days days while the family watched it happen. But they were able to rescue most of the possessions and the family moved into the stables that you can see in this photo and remain there to this day.
