Feeding the pigeons

I was sitting in a cafe on Fulham Palace Road this morning when this guy breezes in, orders a coffee and two croissants, and while the coffee is being prepared goes out and feeds the croissants to the pigeons.  I get the feeling that this is an everyday event.  I wonder if he ever varies it?  Pain au Chocolat?
